Prof. Dr. Ali Koşar is a Full Professor at Sabancı University's Mechatronics Department within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS). He serves as Co-Director of the Center of Excellence for Functional Surfaces and Interfaces for Nano Diagnostics (EFSUN). His research focuses on hydrodynamic cavitation, micro/nanoscale heat transfer, and innovative biomedical device development. Key projects include graphene-based cooling systems and nanofluid thermal analysis.
Work Experience: Progressed from Assistant Professor (2007) to Full Professor (2015) at Sabancı University, with adjunct roles at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2007). Leads the Microthermal and Microfluidic Systems Laboratory.
Research Interests: Explores hydrodynamic cavitation applications in medical treatments, boiling heat transfer optimization, and energy-efficient nanofluid systems. Active in patent development, including cooling devices and drug delivery systems.
- Patents: Includes nanoplasmonic cooling devices (JP5883938 B2), pharmaceutical drug delivery systems (EP2918263 B1), and hydrodynamic cavitation medical apparatus (US8986322 B2).
Awards: Notable recognitions include the Sedat Simavi Foundation Award (2016), METU Parlar Technology Incentive Award (2017), and multiple ASME conference honors. Recognized as a TOYP 2015 Scientific Leader and a Young Scientist of Turkey.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Microthermal and Microfluidic Systems Lab, collaborating on projects like the SUTAB tissue ablation technology. Engaged with international networks including the Global Young Academy (GYA) and ICHMT.
