Alfonso Gambardella

Alfonso Gambardella is Professor and Head of the Department of Management and Technology at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, a position held since 2004. Previously, he served as Professor at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (2001-2004) and Associate Professor at the University of Urbino (1992-2001).

He holds a PhD from Stanford University and has been a visiting professor at Stanford University's Department of Economics (1995-1996, 2003, 2005) and MIT's Sloan School (2015-2016). His research focuses on firm strategy, technology strategy, and innovation's impact on industry structures, with core interests in entrepreneurship, economics of innovation, technology strategy, and strategic management. He is renowned for co-authoring the influential book Markets for Technology (MIT Press, 2001) with A. Arora and A. Fosfuri.
