Alfonso Carballo is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Department of Men and Organizations at NEOMA Business School. He holds a PhD from Università Bocconi (Italy), a Master's in Economic Policy Management from Columbia University (USA), and a Bachelor's in Economics from ITAM (Mexico). His research focuses on how individuals and organizations navigate change and transition, particularly examining the role of institutions in shaping social, political, and economic outcomes. His work integrates demographic dynamics, institutional frameworks, and cultural factors to analyze inequality, gender disparities, and polarization, with implications for corporate strategy and public policy.
His research employs advanced quantitative methods and has been published in top journals such as Nature Human Behaviour, Journal of International Business Studies, and Global Strategy Journal. Recent studies explore populism's impact on business investment, the historical roots of economic divergence in Europe, and fertility trends during global crises like the pandemic.
Carballo has presented at major conferences including the Academy of Management, EGOS Colloquium, and the World Economic History Congress. Prior to academia, he served as CEO of Mexico's Regulatory Reform Program (ranked Deputy Minister) and as a consultant to governments, firms, and international organizations. His scholarly contributions also include books on regulatory reform in Latin America and Mexico's fiscal sustainability.
