Alexis Schramel is an adjunct professor at Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and Upper Iowa University. Her interdisciplinary artistic practice explores themes of sensory perception, duration, and reflection through mediums like installation, social collaboration, and traditional crafts such as papermaking and fermentation. She holds an MFA from MCAD and a BA from Upper Iowa University.

Her research bridges bodily boundaries and bio-materials, with a focus on therapeutic artmaking in long-term care settings. She co-authored a 2023 article in the International Journal of Lifelong Learning in Art Education and presented at the Gerontological Society of America Annual Scientific Meeting in 2020. She also teaches at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and Franconia Sculpture Park, specializing in plant ecology and handmade papermaking.
Schramel serves as a committee member, juror, and youth public art director for Art in the Park since 2020, directing projects like Art for a Lifetime for long-term care residents. Her work has been exhibited regionally and internationally, including in the U.S., the U.K., and Poland.
