E.E. Balcos

E.E. Balcos is a Professor of Dance at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. A Filipino-American and native Minnesotan, he is a professional performer, choreographer, and somatic dance educator with over four decades of experience.

  • BA in Music from The Colorado College
  • MFA in Choreography from The University of Iowa

His expertise spans Modern Dance Technique, Choreography, Contact Improvisation, and Anatomy for Dancers. Balcos has taught at the university level for 704-687-0222 and mentored students through Performance Practicum courses.

As a performer, he collaborated with modern dance pioneer Hanya Holm and toured globally with companies like Shapiro & Smith Dance, Demetrius Klein Dance Company, and Zenon Dance Company. His choreographic works have been featured at venues such as Walker Art Center, Joyce/Soho, and international festivals, with long-term collaborations in dance-theatre and music composition.
