Alexey Akimov is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting & Finance at Lancaster University, where he has been since 2012. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Reading (2012) and an MSc in Real Estate from Cass Business School (2008). His research focuses on interest rate risk exposure in listed real estate firms, property market forecasting, and commonalities in asset cycles. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Regional Studies, and Urban Studies.
Dr. Akimov’s research interests span Financial Markets and Risk Management, Emerging Markets Finance, Corporate Governance, and Real Estate Portfolio Fund Management. He has received grants including a €10,000 EPRA Grant (2014) for research on European real estate interest rate sensitivity and a £22,500 RICS Grant (2014) on Real Estate and Inflation. He actively participates in conferences like the American Real Estate Society and European Real Estate Society events, contributing to peer reviews in journals like the International Review of Finance and Urban Studies.
He teaches courses including Managerial Finance (Ac.F100) and Introduction to Finance (Ac.F263M/L). His work integrates academic rigor with practical insights, addressing critical issues in real estate finance and market dynamics.
