Dr. Alexandre Hedjazi serves as Senior Lecturer at the University of Geneva's Institute of Environmental Sciences and holds leadership roles including Academic Deputy Director of the Global Environmental Policy Programme. He co-directs the Sustainable Development, Urbanism and Public Action specialization within the Master in Environmental Sciences (MUSE) program. His academic journey includes research positions at Grenoble Institute of Urbanism and UC San Diego's Urban Planning Department, followed by Fulbright-funded PhD studies at UCLA's School of Public Affairs.

Hedjazi's research spans Regionalism, Urban Planning, Geopolitics of Natural Resources, and Sustainable Infrastructures, with fieldwork focused on Switzerland, Europe, North America, and the Central Asia/Caucasus regions. His work bridges theoretical urban studies with practical applications in disaster risk reduction and environmental strategy, particularly examining the Caspian Sea region's urbanization dynamics. Recent publications reveal increasing focus on climate resilience, sea-level rise challenges, and sustainability-oriented innovation in urban infrasystems.
Hedjazi has secured research partnerships with global actors including UNECE, UNEP, and Geneva Airport for sustainable infrastructure projects, alongside leading the Caspian Region Integration initiative (Caspisnet). His advisory portfolio includes directing PhD theses on Baku's urban transition, Tehran's transport systems, and global sustainability governance frameworks.
As an educator, he teaches core courses including Cities in Transition, Global Environment Energy and Risk, and Urban Futures workshops, while directing executive training through the Strategic Sustainability Leadership Program. His international teaching spans Abu Dhabi, Geneva, and Los Angeles, emphasizing hybrid solution-based pedagogy.
