معرفی
Alexandre Borovik is an Emeritus Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Manchester. With over 40 years of teaching experience across multiple institutions, he has supervised numerous MSc and PhD students. His academic background includes extensive work as a night warden, instructor, and lecturer across diverse educational settings.
His research focuses on algebra and mathematical logic, particularly model theory and group theory. Key interests include: algebraically closed fields, simple groups, finite group theory, Coxeter groups, and the application of model-theoretic methods to algebraic structures. Recent publications explore finite Morley rank groups, primitive permutation groups, and black box group representations.
Borovik's pedagogical work addresses mathematics education reform, curriculum development for AI-era mathematics, and historical analysis of Soviet mathematical education. He has taught over 20 courses spanning Euclidean geometry, calculus, linear algebra, number theory, logic, coding theory, and graduate-level model theory.
He edits The De Morgan Forum and The De Morgan Gazette, and holds memberships in the London Mathematical Society, American Mathematical Society, Association Computability in Europe, British Logic Colloquium, and Higher Education Academy.
