معرفی
Dr. Alexandra Tetarenko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Lethbridge. She holds a BSc in Astrophysics from the University of Calgary and earned her MSc (2014) and PhD (2018) from the University of Alberta. Prior to her current role, she worked at the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope in Hawaii and held a NASA Einstein Fellowship at Texas Tech University.
Her research focuses on black hole astrophysics and relativistic jet phenomena, using stellar-mass black holes as laboratories to study accretion-jet coupling. She develops novel observational techniques and computational tools for multi-wavelength data analysis, with specialization in radio/submillimeter astronomy. Key research areas include:
- Jet formation mechanisms in X-ray binaries
- Accretion dynamics during transient outbursts
- Submillimeter polarimetry of relativistic outflows
- Time-domain spectroscopy of compact objects
- Computational modeling of jet thermodynamics
Her recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on multi-wavelength monitoring of transient jets (particularly in Swift J1727.8–1613 and GRS 1915+105), ALMA/JWST instrumentation development, and black hole accretion physics across spectral states. Research frequently utilizes cutting-edge facilities including ALMA, JWST, and the Event Horizon Telescope.
Honors:
- NASA Einstein Fellowship (postdoctoral award)
