Prof. Alexandra Scheele is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics and Labor at the Universität Bielefeld's Faculty of Sociology. Her research focuses on gender equality, labor markets, and transnational policy frameworks. She leads the DFG Research Training Group 2951 on cross-border labor markets and serves as an expert for EU gender equality initiatives. Current roles include editorship of the Zeitschrift für Soziologie and spokesperson for the ConGeD research focus area.

Research Interests: Gender and democracy contestations, transnational labor market dynamics, EU gender equality policies, and the intersection of work and care crises. Notable projects include the VolkswagenStiftung-funded 'Double Fragility' study on care crises during the pandemic and the EU PROGRESS-funded initiative addressing gender pay gaps.

Grants and Editorial Roles: Led projects on gender equality and labor policy, including the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung initiative on digital pay equity.
