Professor Alexandra Santos is a Clinical Professor of Paediatric Food Allergy at King’s College London and Honorary Consultant at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Her expertise spans food allergy mechanisms, diagnosis, and patient care. She holds a PhD from King’s College London (2015) and an MSc from the University of Coimbra (2011).
Research focuses include improving diagnostic accuracy, oral tolerance mechanisms, and psychological impacts of food allergies. Her lab, the Santos Group, explores biomarkers and translational research. She leads the Clinical Diagnostics Development Unit (CDDU) to harmonize clinical methods.
Key roles include Chair of the EAACI Food Allergy Interest Group and member of the WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Committee. Funded by MRC, NIH, FARE, and others, her work addresses global food allergy challenges. Awards include MRC fellowships and international prizes for research excellence.
