Prof. Dr. Alexandra Philipsen is the Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital Bonn, affiliated with the Medical Faculty of the University of Bonn. She holds a doctorate in Neuropediatrics (1998) and completed her habilitation on adult ADHD etiology/diagnostics/treatment (2009). Previously, she served as Director of the Psychiatric Department at the European Medical School Oldenburg-Groningen (2014-2017) and Vice-Dean of the Medical Faculty there.
Her research focuses on developing novel treatments for developmental and stress-related psychiatric disorders, particularly ADHD and conditions involving emotional dysregulation/impulsivity. Her team employs a translational, transdiagnostic, and interdisciplinary approach, combining clinical practice with cutting-edge research.
Notable research trends include investigating exercise interventions for cognitive deficits in ADHD, multimodal treatment efficacy via the COMPAS trial, and neuroimaging studies exploring mindfulness effects on working memory.
