Alexandra Potter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont (UVM). She is affiliated with the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit (CNRU) and focuses on neurobiological mechanisms underlying ADHD and cognitive dysfunctions. Her research examines cholinergic systems, particularly nicotinic modulation of impulsivity and executive functions using fMRI and drug challenge studies. Key projects include studying ADHD-related deficits in young adults, developmental shifts in brain activity, and cognitive aging in ADHD patients.
Education: B.A. (1990) and Ph.D. (2003) in Psychology from UVM. Active in large-scale studies like the ABCD Study and NIH-funded projects. Publications span neuroimaging, ADHD pharmacology, and lung cancer screening policy. Collaborates with institutions like NIH and NIDA. Supervises graduate students in clinical neuroscience and translational research.
Lab: CNRU investigates neurobiological underpinnings of neurodevelopmental disorders. Recent work includes longitudinal studies on nicotine's effects on impulsivity and brain activation patterns in ADHD cohorts.
