Dr. Alexandra Phelan is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Monash University, specializing in insurgent governance, political violence, and gender analysis. She serves as an associate editor for Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and holds fellowships at RUSI's Terrorism and Conflict group and the Small Wars Journal-El Centro. Her research focuses on Latin America, particularly Colombia's conflict and FARC's evolution, and explores intersections between gender, extremism, and organized crime.
Phelan has led projects on gendered radicalisation, far-right movements, and online extremism.
