معرفی
Alexandra Elsakova is a Junior Research Fellow in Molecular Immunology at the University of Tartu's Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Biomedicine and Translational Medicine. Holding a 0.50 FTE appointment since September 2025, she has maintained continuous research engagement with the university since August 2022 across fractional positions (0.50–1.00 FTE).
Her academic foundation includes:
- MSc Bioengineering at University of Tartu (2020–present)
- Bachelor's in Biology/Biomedicine from Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (2016–2020)
- Exchange studies at University of Turku (2019)
Elsakova's research integrates molecular immunology with electrochemical biosensor development. Primary focus areas include immune dysregulation in multiple sclerosis (particularly EBV signatures), autoantibody profiling in viral infections (SARS-CoV-2), and translational diagnostic tools. Her work bridges fundamental immune mechanisms with applied sensor technology for point-of-care antibody detection.
Recent publications (2023–2025) reveal dual thematic streams: neuroimmunological investigations of viral triggers in autoimmune disorders, and electrochemical methodologies for sensitive antibody quantification. This synergy between immunological inquiry and biosensor innovation defines her emerging scholarly identity.
No scientific awards or fellowships are documented in available records.
She co-supervised Avishan Aghayari's 2024 Master's thesis on T-cell receptor dynamics in CVID patients post-vaccination. Elsakova actively contributes to major funded initiatives: the European Commission's €996,125 Systems Immunology/Aging project (2024–2027) and Estonian Research Council's €943,700 study on type I interferons in autoimmunity/COVID-19 (2021–2025), both led by Kai Kisand.
Based in the Institute of Biomedicine and Translational Medicine, she operates within Kai Kisand's research ecosystem focusing on immune tolerance mechanisms, while collaborating across faculties through projects like the Faculty of Science and Technology's biosensor development work.
