Alexandra D'Arcy is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of Victoria and Director of the Sociolinguistics Research Lab (SLRL). Her work bridges sociolinguistic variation and historical linguistics, focusing on longitudinal change and the social meanings embedded in language. She has taught diverse courses such as Language and the Internet, Grammaticalization, and Encountering Humanities Research at institutions including the University of Toronto, the University of Canterbury, and the University of Victoria over a 20+ year career.
- Research Lab: Founded the SLRL at UVic in 2010, a hub for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars.
