Professor Alexandra Cristea is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at Durham University, holding the role of Deputy Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science. She leads the SCENE lab and founded the Artificial Intelligence in Human Systems (AIHS) research group. Her research focuses on adaptive systems, learning analytics, AI, and web science, with over 350 publications and significant citations. She has led major projects including JANET/JANET 2.0 and the MESSENGER initiative promoting gender equality in STEM. She serves as Alan Turing Academic Liaison for Durham and holds editorial roles in journals like ACM Computing Surveys and IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies.
