Alexandra Chang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media at Rutgers University-Newark. She also serves as the Interim Associate Director of the Clement A. Price Institute on Ethnicity, Culture, and the Modern Experience and the Associate Director of the American Studies Program. Additionally, she is a member of the Executive Committee of the Institute on Research on Women.
Chang's research and teaching focus on interdisciplinary and transnational approaches to art and culture, including:

Her work emphasizes embodied performance, improvisation, and the intersections of Afro-Asian cultural movements from the mid-20th century to the present.

- Saratoga Arts Community Arts Grant (2023)
- ArtTable New Leadership Award (2019)
She actively organizes community projects like the Decolonizing Curatorial and Museum Studies and Public Humanities Project (DCMP), Our Newark Futures gatherings, and co-founded the Asian Diasporic Visual Cultures and the Americas journal (ADVA). She also directs the Virtual Asian American Art Museum (VAAAM) and collaborates on improvisational music projects such as the Rock City Falls Trio.
