معرفی
Dr Alexandra Carthey is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management at Macquarie University's School of Natural Sciences, affiliated with the Smart Green Cities Research Centre. She specializes in invasive species management, predator-prey dynamics, and urban rewilding. Her work combines behavioral, chemical, and microbial ecology approaches to address biodiversity loss.
Education:
- PhD in Ecology, University of Sydney (2013)
- BSc (Honours Class I) in Ecology, University of New South Wales (2007)
- Bachelor of Arts in History, University of New South Wales (2007)
Research Interests: Dr Carthey investigates how invasive species disrupt trophic interactions (predation and herbivory) to inform conservation strategies. She collaborates across disciplines, including plant ecology, microbiology, and molecular biology. Current projects include urban rewilding frameworks, fox virome studies, and mycorrhizal fungal dynamics.
Articles Trends: Recent work focuses on urban rewilding strategies, microbial ecology in disturbed ecosystems, and predator-prey cognition. Key themes include anthropogenic disturbance impacts, invasive species control, and biodiversity restoration.
Awards:
- Adolph Bolliger Award (2013)
- Barbara Milthorpe Memorial Award (2018)
- Excellence in Teaching (2014)
- MQ Early Career Research Excellence (2020)
Advising & Grants: Leads/co-leads 8 projects, including LP21 Urban Rewilding (2023-2026) and fox movement genetics studies. Active in interdisciplinary collaborations and grant-funded research.
Labs & Teams: Associated with the Smart Green Cities Research Centre and collaborates with global networks in conservation biology and microbial ecology.
