Nuremberg Institute of Technology Georg Simon Ohmمعرفی
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander von Hoffmann is a Professor at Nuremberg Technical University (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg) affiliated with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Precision Engineering and Information Technology and the Ohm User Experience Center (Ohm-UX). His work focuses on the intersection of human-machine interaction, lighting, and sound technologies, with applications primarily in automotive contexts and digital media.
Prof. von Hoffmann completed his doctorate on adaptive vehicle headlights before working in lighting development for an automobile manufacturer. Since 2006, he has taught at Nuremberg Technical University and received research funding through the Bavarian High-Tech Agenda 2021 for his work on "Light and Sound as Human-Machine Interaction in Vehicles."
His research spans several key areas in human-computer interaction. At the Ohm User Experience Center and his laboratory for mechatronic human-machine interfaces, he develops multimodal interaction concepts that utilize light and sound for intuitive communication. A significant focus is on AI-generated affective audio signals and adaptive light systems to improve transparency and acceptance of automated decisions. His work also includes sound design in digital games for enhanced user experience and AI-based acoustic fault detection for mechatronic components.
Prof. von Hoffmann's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on human-machine interfaces, particularly in automotive contexts. His work spans video technology, sound design, lighting systems, and UX research. Key trends include the application of AI in affective sound generation, multimodal interaction design, and technical implementation of human-centered systems across media, mobility, and industrial applications.
His notable recognition includes:
- NERGIE Promotional Award 2009 for LED Street Lighting
Prof. von Hoffmann is an active member of the German Society for Acoustics (DEGA) and contributes to the "Best Minds" campaign of the Bavarian State Government as part of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria. His teaching approach combines technical depth with creative practice, emphasizing understandable, interactive knowledge transfer with a focus on future applications in media, mobility, and industry.
He leads research at the Ohm User Experience Center (Ohm-UX), which serves as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration on human-centered technology design. His laboratory for mechatronic human-machine interfaces develops innovative solutions that bridge the gap between technical capabilities and user needs, particularly in automotive contexts where safety and intuitive interaction are paramount.
