Prof. Alexander Vogel is a tenured Professor of Atmospheric Environmental Analytics at Goethe University Frankfurt (since 2024), leading research on atmospheric chemistry and aerosol analysis. Previously, he held a tenure-track professorship (2018–2023) and conducted postdoctoral research at the Paul Scherrer Institute (2016–2018) and CERN’s CLOUD Experiment (2014–2016). His work focuses on trace organic analysis using mass spectrometry, aerosol composition, and their implications for climate and human health. He develops advanced techniques like ultra-high-resolution mass spectrometry and non-targeted data mining for environmental samples, including ice cores and urban PM.
Education includes a PhD (summa cum laude, 2014) and diploma in chemistry from Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. Awards include the 25th Adolf Messer Foundation Award (2018) and EU Marie Curie ITN CLOUD-TRAIN Fellowship (2014–2016). He leads the Emmy Noether Research Group (funded by DFG) on aerosol loadings in future atmospheres. Professional memberships include the German Chemical Society (WG Analytical Chemistry and WG Environmental Chemistry) and the Association for Aerosol Research (GAeF).
His research integrates field measurements, laboratory experiments, and computational methods to address aerosol sources, growth processes, and environmental impacts. Collaborations span institutions like CERN and Paul Scherrer Institute, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to atmospheric science challenges.
