Dr. Alexander Stöger is a postdoctoral researcher at the Junior Research Group Europe within the Cluster for European Studies at Saarland University since 2023. His academic background includes completing his doctorate in 2019 at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and working as a postdoc at Leiden University until 2022.
His research focuses on:
- Scientific identity debates in empirical natural sciences and medicine
- Development of scientific journals in Europe
- Professionalization of experimental scientific disciplines in Germany and Great Britain since 1800
- Epistemic virtues in German and British scientific cultures
Dr. Stöger serves as co-organizer of the Early Career Network of German-speaking scientific history researchers (the Driburger Kreis) and holds the position of Communications Officer and Webmaster for the British Society for the History of Science (BSHS), demonstrating his active engagement in the international academic community.
