Dr. Alexander Lakaw is a researcher at the Department of Languages, Linnaeus University, specializing in corpus linguistics, language change, and historical linguistics. He leads the Centre of Language for Specific Purposes (CLSP) and contributes to the Data Intensive Digital Humanities research area.
His research focuses on diachronic shifts in collective noun agreement patterns between American and British English, utilizing both traditional corpora and contemporary social media data like the Nordic Tweet Stream. He has published extensively on these topics, including a 2024 monograph on diachronic corpus studies and a 2022 book review in English Language and Linguistics.
