Alexander Govorov

Dr. Alexander Govorov is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University's College of Arts and Sciences. His theoretical research focuses on optical and electronic phenomena in nanostructures including quantum dots, nanocrystals, and nanowires, with particular emphasis on light-matter interactions at the nanoscale.

Research Focus: Govorov specializes in plasmonic effects, chiral photochemistry, and quantum phenomena in semiconductor nanostructures. His current work investigates mechanisms for hot electron generation, magneto-optical manipulation of nanomaterials, and engineering of chiral optical responses in plasmonic metastructures. He maintains extensive international collaborations with experimental groups worldwide.

Recognition: Recipient of the prestigious Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Humboldt Foundation in 2004 for outstanding research contributions in theoretical condensed-matter physics.
