Alexander Coutts is an Associate Professor of Economics at York University's Schulich School of Business in Toronto, Canada, specializing in behavioral, development, and experimental economics. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University and has previously held positions at Nova School of Business and Economics in Portugal.
His research examines belief formation, social preferences in post-conflict settings, and gender dynamics in competitive environments using field and lab experiments. Coutts has secured major grants including SSHRC Insight Development and Partnership Engage Grants, and Aga Khan Development Network funding for health interventions in Guinea-Bissau.
Recognized with multiple awards including the European Financial Management Best Paper Award (2014) and Experimental Economics Editor's Award (2019), he serves on doctoral committees and organizes academic workshops. Coutts teaches courses in Behavioral Economics, Applied Macroeconomics, and Investment Management.
