Alexander Brown

Alexander Brown is an Associate Professor (Reader) in Political and Legal Theory at the University of East Anglia (UEA). He holds a PhD in Political Philosophy from University College London (UCL, 2005) and has held academic positions at UCL and multiple UK universities. His research focuses on political theory, jurisprudence, and applied ethics, with a strong emphasis on free speech, hate speech, distributive justice, and legitimate expectations in public administration.

Professional roles include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), Visiting Scholar at the University of Queensland (2018), and leadership in UEA's Postgraduate Research programs. He has contributed to impactful research for the Council of Europe on hate speech governance and cybercrime protocols.
