Adriana Sinclair is an Associate Professor in International Relations at the University of East Anglia (UEA), where she has been since 2009. She holds affiliations within the School of Politics, Philosophy and Area Studies, focusing on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of International Relations theory and international law. Her work critically examines the role of international law as a structural force in global politics, arguing for its agency beyond passive enablement. Sinclair has authored influential books like Hate Speech Frontiers (2023) and The Politics of Hate Speech Laws (2019), alongside seminal articles redefining legal ontology.
Education: B.A. (Warwick, 2000), M.Sc. (Aberystwyth, 2001), Ph.D. (Aberystwyth, 2005). Career highlights include a 2012 BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker award and a 2018 Visiting Fellowship at the University of Queensland. She supervises research on hydro-politics, human rights, and ASEAN security. Teaching modules include International Relations Theory and Global Politics.
