Alex Zablah is the Gerber/Taylor Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Department Head of Marketing at the Haslam College of Business, University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He holds the Kinney Family Faculty Research Fellow position and previously served at Oklahoma State University and George Mason University. His research focuses on frontline marketing dynamics, integrating organizational processes, employee behavior, and technology to enhance customer interactions and firm performance. Zablah’s work spans healthcare, retail, and hospitality contexts, published in top-tier journals like the Journal of Marketing and Journal of Applied Psychology.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Georgia State University, 2005), M.B.A. in Marketing (Louisiana State University, 2001), and B.S. in Food Science and Technology (Louisiana State University, 1999). His research expertise includes consumer behavior, marketing strategy, professional selling, and marketing analytics. He currently serves on editorial boards for the Journal of Marketing and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Zablah has received prestigious awards, including the 2017 Richard C. Reizenstein Award for student commitment and 2016 Charles & Dorothy Duggan Research Fellowship. His recent work explores identity discounts, CSR advertising, and automation’s post-purchase effects. He advises on CRM system implementation, digital assistant perceptions, and ethical frontline behavior. Active in academic leadership, he co-founded the Marketing and Sales Innovation Conference at UT Knoxville.
