Dr. Alex Wylie is a Senior Lecturer at York St John University’s School of Humanities. He holds a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast on self-reflexivity and otherness in T.S. Eliot and Geoffrey Hill. His academic work bridges literary criticism and creative writing, focusing on modern poetry, poetics, and cultural politics. He teaches on the Liberal Arts Foundation Year, emphasizing interdisciplinary subjects like literature, philosophy, history, and linguistics. Wylie also contributes to the Literature programme, including modules such as Historicizing the Contemporary and World, Globe, Literature.
Research interests include modernist legacies, poetry’s role in public discourse, and the interplay between form and politics. He has published widely, including the monograph Geoffrey Hill’s Later Work: Radiance of Apprehension (2019) and poetry collections like Secular Games (2020).
