Alex Vernon

Alex Vernon is Assistant Professor of Law and Director of the Immigration Law Clinic at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. His practice focuses on asylum claims, humanitarian parole, and cross-border refugee protection.

Border Expertise: Vernon is a leading authority on the Canada-US Safe Third Country Agreement impacts. He co-founded the Canada/US Cross Border Network and serves on multiple migrant advocacy boards including Freedom House Detroit.

Clinical Work: Supervises students representing refugees, unaccompanied minors, and crime victims. Cases involve cancellation of removal, prosecutorial discretion, and special immigrant juvenile status.
