Professor Alex Skandalis is a faculty member at the Lancaster University Management School, holding the title of Professor in Marketing. His research bridges consumer culture theory, cultural sociology, and sustainable consumption, with a focus on plastic packaging, digital cultures, and consumption of space and place. He is affiliated with the Centre for Consumption Insights and leads interdisciplinary projects like Plastic Packaging in People's Lives.
Skandalis explores consumption practices in cultural and creative industries (music festivals, craft, digital gaming), examining how aesthetics, place attachment, and experiential marketing shape consumer behavior. His recent work analyzes plastic packaging in food supply chains, attitude-behavior gaps, and interdisciplinary sustainability solutions.
