معرفی
Alessandro Romanel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cellular, Computational and Integrative Biology (CIBIO) at the University of Trento. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of cancer, particularly prostate cancer, leveraging computational biology and bioinformatics approaches. Key areas include genome editing (e.g., CRISPR-CAS9), precision medicine, transcriptomics, and next-generation sequencing technologies. He teaches courses such as Bioinformatics, Molecular Basis of Disease, and Scientific Programming.
His work integrates experimental and computational methods to study cancer genetics, somatic mutations, and germline variants. Notable projects involve investigating TRPM8 signaling in tumor vulnerability, EXO5 haplotype impacts on genome stability, and YTHDF paralog roles in tumor progression. He has developed tools like SpikeFlow for ChIP-Seq analysis and contributed to ctDNA detection methods in liquid biopsies.
Romanel’s research also addresses translational challenges in oncology, including biomarker discovery and drug resistance mechanisms. Collaborations span computational modeling, clinical trials, and precision medicine applications in metastatic cancers. His expertise bridges basic molecular biology with clinical cancer research, emphasizing systems biology and functional genomics approaches.
