Alessandro Carrera is a John and Rebecca Moores Professor and Chair of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of Houston, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Born in Lodi, Italy (1954), he holds a Laurea in Philosophy from the University of Milan (1980) and a PhD by Publications in Music, Humanities, and Media from the University of Huddersfield (2016). His career includes teaching roles at institutions like NYU, McMaster University, and fellowships supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He directs Gradiva: International Journal of Italian Poetry and serves as Visiting Professor at Università di Brescia (AI/Mind Enterprise) and IULM University (Music Publishing). His over 50 books include works on Bob Dylan, Fellini, and foundational Italian philosophy.
