Angelo Valastro Canale

Angelo Valastro Canale is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid. He holds a Licentiate in Philosophy and Letters (specializing in Medieval Latin) from the University of Florence and a Doctorate in Classical Philology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. His research focuses on classical and medieval philology, music theory, and translation studies. He has directed the collection 'Voces de papel. Textos bilingües' and served as Director of the University of Mayores (2012-2022) and Secretary of the Revista Pensamiento (2011-2024).

His research interests include classical and medieval philology, musicology, and the intersection of art and technology. He has published extensively on Dante, Cervantes, and medieval manuscripts. His recent work explores AI applications in art and intertextual analysis of religious texts. He is a sworn Spanish-Italian interpreter and holds two research sexenios in Philosophy and Philology. Notable awards include First Prize in the RAI International Music Composition Contest (1991) and finalist positions in Shostakovich and Musica per Archi competitions.

In teaching, he has 29 years of experience at Comillas, covering Greek and Latin language courses, philosophy of antiquity, and interdisciplinary studies linking literature, film, and philosophy. He combines academic work with musical achievements: a Superior Diploma in Piano (Conservatorio Cherubini, Florence) and harmony/counterpoint training. His certifications include ACAP qualifications for university teaching (2005) and DIFOPU (2019).
