Alessandra Parry is a Full-time Lecturer in the Department of Spanish at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). Her career spans over a decade in Cleveland, Ohio, where she also works as a certified court interpreter trainee, merging her expertise in criminal justice and Spanish. She is deeply engaged in mentoring youth and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) on campus and in the community.
Education:
- University of Akron: B.A.S. in Political Science and Criminal Justice, B.A. in Spanish
- Current part-time graduate student at the University of Houston focusing on linguistics.
Her research centers on the role of women during Spain’s Franco dictatorship (1939–1975), emphasizing sisterhood as a tool for resistance and reclaiming suppressed feminine narratives. She is also invested in pedagogical methods for teaching Spanish to heritage learners, reflecting her DELE examiner accreditation and passion for language advocacy.
A multi-racial, Muslim Latina, Parry brings a unique perspective to her work with underrepresented students. She balances her academic and community roles with personal interests in Arabic, ASL, polymer clay art, and poetry.
