Alesha E. Doan

Alesha E. Doan is an Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Kansas, holding a joint appointment in the School of Public Affairs & Administration and the Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies Department. Her research focuses on gender, public policy, and organizations, with emphasis on reproductive health, sexual violence, and military gender integration. She has secured over $7 million in external funding and authored/co-authored major works such as Organizational Obliviousness: Entrenched Resistance to Gender Integration in the Military (2019) and Managing Sex in the U.S. Military (2022).

Education: PhD in Political Science from Texas A&M University, and additional degrees in Political Science (University of Wisconsin) and Sociology (University of New Mexico).

Teaching emphasizes inclusive practices, fostering equity in public organizations and reproductive justice. She prioritizes creating safe learning environments for underrepresented students through positive feedback models.
