Aleksandar Jovanovic

Aleksandar Jovanovic is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Head of the Department of Basic and Clinical Sciences at the University of Nicosia Medical School. He holds MD/PhD degrees from the University of Belgrade and completed a Merck, Sharp & Dohme International Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at the Mayo Clinic. His career includes roles at the University of Dundee, where he advanced to full Professor of Experimental Medicine.

His research focuses on intracellular signaling pathways, particularly those mediating cardioprotection, and their therapeutic applications. Notable contributions include studies on SUR2A protein mechanisms, KATP channel regulation, and cardioprotective agents like isosteviol. He also explores interdisciplinary areas such as AI-driven traffic optimization algorithms and blockchain-based educational platforms.

Professor Jovanovic has authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles and reviews in journals like the European Journal of Pharmacology, where he serves as an editor.
