معرفی
Alejandro Raul Burga Ramos is a Tenured Group Leader at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 2019. His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving the evolution of complex traits, with a particular emphasis on epistatic interactions and genomic conflict. He has held postdoctoral fellowships at UCLA and Princeton University.
- Research Interests: Genetics, Evolutionary Biology, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Population Genetics, Developmental Biology
- Scientific Awards: ERC Starting Grant, Jane Coffin Childs Postdoctoral Fellowship, Extraordinary Thesis Prize from Universitat Pompeu Fabra
Publications: His work spans topics like selfish genetic elements, genetic modifiers, and the evolution of complex traits, with recent studies on RNA-mediated parent-of-origin effects (2024) and virus-like transposons driving genetic incompatibilities (2023). His research bridges quantitative genetics, genomics, and developmental biology to address fundamental questions in inheritance and adaptation.
- Advising: Supervises PhD students including Anja KOLLER, Daniel KROGULL, and Polina TIKANOVA.
- Team: Collaborates with postdocs like Sonya WIDEN and Tianhua LIAO.
