Alejandra Carles-Tolra

Alejandra Carles-Tolra is a Lecturer in Photography at the University of Portsmouth, affiliated with the School of Architecture, Art and Design. Based in London but originally from Barcelona, her work explores themes of identity and belonging through visual art. She actively engages with non-profit organizations to empower vulnerable communities via participatory photography workshops.

Her artistic practice has been showcased internationally at institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery (UK), Photo Miyota (Japan), Somerset House, and the Finnish Museum of Photography. Her work is part of significant collections like the Arts Council Collection of England and the Col·lecció Nacional de Fotografía (Catalunya).
