Dr Aldo Zammit Borda is a Reader in Law at City St George's, University of London, where he also serves as LLB Programme Co-Director. Previously, he was Director of the Centre for Access to Justice and Inclusion at Anglia Ruskin University and held roles in Malta’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Research Interests
Dr Zammit Borda’s scholarship centres on international criminal justice, with a particular focus on the historical narratives constructed by international criminal courts and tribunals. His work interrogates how these bodies contribute to collective memory and the ethical imperative of crafting “responsible history.” He has pioneered research on reproductive violence as a distinct category of harm in international criminal law, using the Yazidi genocide as a case study to highlight accountability gaps and advocate for clearer legal definitions.
Publications & Impact
His 2020 monograph Histories Written by International Criminal Courts and Tribunals received critical acclaim for advancing theoretical and practical debates on the role of tribunals as historical agents. Recent articles continue to explore themes of reproductive violence, genocide, and the legitimacy of international people’s tribunals, contributing to policy and academic discourse.
