Aldo Rona

Aldo Rona is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of Leicester. He specializes in Fluid Dynamics, Turbomachinery, and Aeroacoustics, with a focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). His research addresses challenges in aerospace, transport, and energy sectors, including unsteady flows, compressible flows, and jet noise mitigation. He has led EU-funded projects and contributed to national supercomputing initiatives like HPC Midlands Plus and Sulis. Rona holds a 1st class B.Eng.(Hons) from City University and a Ph.D. from the University of Southampton.

He has pioneered endwall contouring techniques to improve gas turbine efficiency and explored hybrid nanofluids for enhanced heat transfer. His studies also extend to physiological fluid dynamics, such as Fontan circulation modeling in cardiology.
