Albin Kenel

Albin Kenel is a Professor of Building Envelopes and Civil Engineering at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture (HSLU), leading the Bachelor's Program in Civil Engineering. He holds a Dr. sc. techn. from ETH Zürich and has extensive experience in structural engineering, reinforced concrete, and sustainable construction. His career spans academic roles at HSLU and the Rapperswil Institute of Technology, alongside consulting for companies like Leviat AG and GRAVIS AG.

Professional activities include membership in SIA, IABSE, and ACI, as well as leadership roles in commissions like the Kommission für Forschung im Strassenwesen (FOKO). Key research focuses on punching shear resistance, material properties of existing concrete structures, and composite construction. He has authored/co-authored multiple publications on topics such as reinforced concrete behavior, structural strengthening, and fiber-reinforced polymers.

Kenel has organized and chaired events like the YES Young Engineers Symposium and the Ingenieur-Betonbautag. His research involves projects on temporary structures, recycled concrete, and historical reinforcement documentation. He actively reviews for journals like Engineering Structures and ACI publications.
