Dr. Albie Sharpe is a Lecturer in the School of Public Health at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he has been a faculty member since 2018. He holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of New South Wales (2017), an MSc in Health and International Development from Flinders University (2009), and additional degrees in Applied Linguistics, Professional Studies, and Arts. Currently serving as Course Director for the Bachelor of Public Health at UTS, he also chairs the Medical Research Ethics Committee.
His research focuses on public health history, social determinants of health, international migration and health, global health, non-communicable diseases, and health security. Notable projects include a World University Network-funded study on nurses' roles in addressing health inequities and a Sri Lanka-based NCD prevention evaluation. He has taught at Ritsumeikan University in Japan and advised Japanese government health projects in Sri Lanka.
Recent publications (2017–2025) explore podcast efficacy in youth health, migrant worker health during pandemics, dietary intervention methods, and Sri Lanka's community health initiatives. His work bridges interdisciplinary approaches with policy analysis, emphasizing marginalized populations and structural determinants.
