معرفی
Prof. Alberto Morpurgo is a Professor at the Department of Quantum Matter Physics (DQMP) at the University of Geneva. His research focuses on nanoelectronics, 2D materials, and condensed matter physics, particularly exploring spintronics, magnetism, superconductivity, and quantum transport phenomena. He has pioneered studies on electronic properties of atomically thin materials such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, and van der Waals heterostructures.
His work bridges fundamental physics and technological applications, including the design of novel devices such as light-emitting transistors and spintronic components. Key research areas include:
- Magnetotransport in 2D antiferromagnetic semiconductors
- Gate-induced superconductivity in layered materials
- Electronic structure engineering via strain and moiré superlattices
- Quantum phase transitions in low-dimensional systems
Recent publications (2023-2025) highlight advancements in understanding spin-polarized conduction, orbital pairing mechanisms in superconductors, and strain-induced magnetism in CrBr₃ multilayers. His research also addresses technological challenges in electrostatic gating and nanoscale magnetometry.
Morpurgo collaborates with institutions across Switzerland through the Geneva Quantum Centre and MaNEP Network. His experimental techniques include ARPES, scanning tunneling microscopy, and advanced optical spectroscopy.
