Alberto González Remuiñán (born 1988) is a historian specializing in agrarian and socioeconomic transformations in rural societies during the late Ancien Régime. He currently holds a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Coimbra under the ReSEED project, focusing on rescuing seed heritage and agricultural history. His research emphasizes the Mariñas and Arco Ártabro regions of Galicia, particularly the agricultural crisis of the 18th to early 19th centuries as documented in the Martín de Garay cadastre.
Education includes a History degree (2011), an Interuniversity Master’s in Contemporary History (2012), and a Teaching Master’s in Social Sciences/Humanities (2013), all from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). His doctoral thesis (2019, USC) explored agrarian conflict and innovation in organic agriculture through the Garay cadastre, earning cum laude honors.
Research projects include investigations into motorized mechanization in Iberian Atlantic agriculture (1920–2000), agroecology networks (REVOLTA), and the HISTAGRA Group’s work on rural politics. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary agrarian challenges, particularly in marginalized rural areas.
Grants and affiliations include the ReSEED postdoctoral fellowship and participation in the HISTAGRA research group. He contributes to interdisciplinary collaborations addressing historical agricultural data and its modern implications.
