Alberto Fernandes

Alberto Fernandes is a PhD candidate in Cultural Studies and researcher at the Centre for Communication and Society Studies (CECS), Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho. His work examines cultural identity, intangible heritage, and community perception within political-economic frameworks.

Holds a Master's in Arts and Cultural Management from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (2015), with thesis "Cultural Heritage Mirandês: a contribution to a political-economic approach," and a degree in Music Education from the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. Participated in Erasmus exchanges at Vilnius Pedagoginis Universitetas.

Active in cultural preservation through associations like Galandum Galundaina and the Mirandese Language and Culture Association, organizing festivals and exhibitions. Contributed to the FCT-funded FESTIVITY project on "Festa, cultural heritage and community sustainability" analyzing Bugiada and Mouriscada de Sobrado traditions.
