Albert Polman

Albert Polman is a Professor at AMOLF (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) in Amsterdam, leading the Photonic Materials Group in the Center for Nanophotonics.

His primary research interests include:

• Nanophotonics for Photovoltaics: Spectrum splitting in perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, colored PV, metal nanowire contacts, light trapping, and novel architectures.
• Optical Metamaterials: Designing analog computational optical metasurfaces, passive radiative cooling metasurfaces, and switchable optical metasurfaces.
• Advanced Microscopy: Cathodoluminescence microscopy, holography, photon-induced near-field electron microscopy, and picosecond pump-probe spectroscopy.

His group's research bridges fundamental nanoscale optical phenomena with applications in renewable energy and next-generation optical devices.
