Dr Alban Asllani is a Senior Lecturer in Economics & Finance at the University of East London (UEL), affiliated with the Royal Docks School of Business and Law. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Bedfordshire. With over 8 years of university-level teaching experience, he specializes in modules such as Macroeconomics, International Financial Markets, and Globalisation. Beyond academia, he has worked in the UK financial sector and as an economist in Ofgem’s Chief Economist Office for 3 years.
His research focuses on the informal economy, political economy, development economics, and Balkan regional studies. Notable works include analyzing military spending’s impact on growth in the Balkans and reviewing EU policies to mitigate shadow economies. Recent publications (2024–2025) emphasize global informal economy trends, military spending dynamics, and policy implications.
Dr Asllani’s expertise spans empirical methods like structural equation modelling and MIMIC approaches. He has presented at international conferences (e.g., EBES Berlin 2024) and published in journals like Peace Economics and Defence and Peace Economics. His work often bridges economic theory with real-world policy challenges, particularly in transitional economies.
