Alba Alonso Álvarez

Alba Alonso Álvarez is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). She holds a PhD in Political Science from USC, awarded in 2013 for her thesis on gender mainstreaming in Spain, which received the Best Doctoral Thesis Award from the Spanish Political Science Association. Her research focuses on equality policies, gender dynamics in federalism, promoting gender equality in academia, and analyzing anti-feminist movements. She has held competitive pre-doctoral and post-doctoral contracts, enabling research stays at institutions like the University of Edinburgh and Washington State University. She is a member of the Armela Research Network and has collaborated with the European Institute for Gender Equality and the Spanish Ministry of Universities.

Alba Alonso earned her PhD in Political Science from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2013, with her thesis titled Gender Mainstreaming in Spain: Chronology, Instruments, and Impact on Final Policies. This work was recognized with the Best Doctoral Thesis Award from the Spanish Political Science Association. Before her doctorate, she held competitive pre-doctoral (2009-2011) and post-doctoral (2014-2016) contracts, facilitating international research collaborations.
