Alan Sealls is an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Alabama, specializing in weather broadcasting education. He retired from a distinguished career in broadcast meteorology, serving as Chief Meteorologist at WPMI-TV in Mobile, AL. Holding a B.S. in Meteorology from Cornell University and an M.S. in Meteorology from Florida State University, he combines academic rigor with decades of professional experience.
His career highlights include a viral YouTube moment during Hurricane Irma coverage and 16 regional Emmy Awards. He currently teaches weather broadcasting, writes a weather column for Lagniappe Newspaper, and produces educational weather videos for K-12 educators. Sealls is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and has authored three books.
Research interests focus on effective communication of weather science, disaster preparedness, and advancing science literacy through media. He serves as a weather consultant and expert witness, bridging academic and practical applications of meteorology.
